About

Endure is Purpose-Driven Design. Endure was founded in 2006 after lead designer and founder, Chad McComsey, was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, a cancer of the lymphatic system. McComsey, a professional graphic designer, was gaining tremendous debt due to increasing medical bills from his testing and treatments. Chad decided to use his graphic talent to his advantage and began the first shirt designs for what would eventually become Endure .

Endure’s Chad Getting ChemoDuring a routine PET Scan, McComsey read a story in a magazine about Ernest Hemingway and his then mantra “”Il faut d’abord durer” … roughly translated to “Above All, Endure “. The story of Hemingway, his adventures, his words, and his subsequent suicide struck a deep chord with McComsey. The seed of Endure , the word’s meaning and the depth of it’s concept, was planted and soon would grow to what Endure has become today.

Endure is defined as “To hold out against; sustain without impairment or yielding; undergo. To bear without resistance or with patience; tolerate. To continue to exist; to last.” Knowing that his treatments would include 6 months of high-dose chemotherapy followed by a full month of radiation, McComsey put the Endure philosophy to work. “I knew that I had a long, hard road ahead of me. I never thought I’d have to get chemo, I never thought I’d get cancer… especially at this age. I knew I’d have to fight this with everything I had, I knew I would have to Endure ,” said McComsey.

Since it’s inception, Endure has released 8 graphically-enhanced t-shirts. The original “Signature Series” included designs like Pillar and Great Oak which had brief summaries of the shirt’s subject matter and how the particular subject endured, strived and ultimately survived. The Endure concept followed through into the other designs as well. Though mostly graphic, the remaining Signature Series tees illustrated the feelings, experiences and life of McComsey during his most trying times. The new Endure EVO Series starts with the introduction of Phoenix. Representing the rebirth of Endure after the treatments and after the pain of cancer, coming back better and more powerful then before!
