My friend Mike handed out some postcard flyers today that are for a Community Fund Raiser for The Lafayette Fire Company. They are having a live and silent auction throughout the night. But basically if you show up at the Conestoga Restaurant & Bar, on 1501 East King Street in Lancater, June 12 at 6pm you’ll be able to eat and drink and still help the guys at the fire co. It’s a great idea and a great fund raiser. Fire Fighters are incredible people and around here, they are all volunteers… yeah, they don’t get paid to protect us, they just do it! So how do you become a fire fighter? Well most fire companies will take people in and test them, of course there is a ton of information you need to know, and there is schooling involved. I found a comprehensive list of PDH courses at CED Engineering. They offer a class on Firefighting and Fire Prevention which would give anyone the perfect head-start to becoming a fire fighter.
