Importance Of Typography

Dec
15

The importance of strong typography skills goes beyond good design… it is good design. Without an emphasis on typography your design will fall apart. You can certainly have a ton of great images, flashy animation all over the place, but if you cant read the content or if the content is not laid out well then the design fails.

There are plenty of concepts that need to be addressed in typography including fonts, colors, weights and overall readability. These concepts together can enhance the simplest and cleanest of projects or websites. The first thought any designer should have when laying out a piece containing a good portion of copy is, “Can this be read easily?” It’s pretty simple if you think about it. If a client cannot read your copy, or your copy is hard to read, see or make out, then you fail on the most minuscule level of design. If you cannot express your vision, idea or concept then you can’t sell your product; you can’t get your message across to the masses.

Your choice of fonts can be a tough one! With so many different kinds of fonts available and a ton of online “free font” sites to choose from, the compulsion to use all of them is a hard thing to deal with. There are literally tens of thousands of fonts available to consumers and finding the right combination is very important.

Linotype is a very popular set of fonts that is used well in graphic and web design. They have clean lines and are easily read… Linotype offers you high-quality fonts in all formats. Explore, shop, and download the collection.
