Last weekend I broke out the grill and started the season off right with some steaks, burgers and some very tasty garlic-herb chicken. I have also started to spruce up the deck a little bit. My girlfriend has been getting flowers and making our outdoor escape a much prettier place. I have even built a small Zen garden with a Buddha statue and some sand… but with all of that new stuff looking good, my current deck furniture, which is quite old, is looking pretty drab and is completely mismatched with my deck… it just looks odd.
I’m thinking of getting more of the wood type furniture, like Adirondack chairs, teak loungers, and maybe even some of those bamboo post with the torches on them! Maybe i’ll go with a whole Hawaiian theme! Regardless, I’m thinking of using the teak furniture for my deck because of it’s all around beauty and durability. The natural oils in teak make it mildew resistant even if it’s untreated. It also resist warping, rotting and termites… it’s perfect for the outdoors!
I’m done with those plastic beach chairs that you get at all the superstores. I hate the way I stick to them and they aren’t very comfortable for very long. Plus their spotty construction also leaves me wishing I had put my money into something a bit more solid, more stable, more WOOD! Beautiful, durable and affordable, when it comes to Summertime Deck Living, it’s teak all the way!
