And ONLY a tool! You cannot depend on your computer to do the design for you. Your computer does not control the design. You must control the design, you must control the computer. Once people get carried away with everything a computer can do, they tend to count on the computer too much.

Sure, nowadays you cant get a design job without knowing how to use a computer, but knowing what goes into a good design before you even touch a computer is key. Never forget about thumbnails and sketches, getting your idea out on paper… not on the screen. We as designers have to keep an eye on how we use our tools and how we operate with them and without them. If you cannot get your ideas across to a client by simply drawing out your design, you need to go back to the drawing board and get back to work.

Your computer, no matter how high-tech, no matter how many gadgets and programs it has, is JUST A TOOL… just like your paper and pencil. Remember, you are the designer, not the computer.
